Obituary for Joan Edell Berry Joan Edell Berry
Rapps Mill Church Member Was Longtime Floral Designer

Joan Edell Berry, 85, of Lexington, Virginia died Friday, October 16, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born October 4, 1935 in Baltimore, Md., she was a daughter of the late John Michael Edell and Katherine Mary Riter Edell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John M. Edell.

Mrs. Berry was a member of Rapps Mill Church and was a floral designer at the Flower Center for many years. Joan loved flower arranging and enjoyed cooking and decorating for the holidays.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Lee Berry Sr.; children, John L. Phillips, Jeffery L. Phillips, and Katherine L. (Carrie) Berry; brothers, Lawrence Edell and wife, Bobby, and Daniel John Edell; and five grandchildren, including Taylor Campbell, who was her primary caregiver. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24 at Rapps Mill Church with Pastor Gary Hill officiating.
