Korean War Veteran Was Well-Known West Virginia Ford Dealer, Bank Director

Lewis Wade Griffith of Lewisburg, West Virginia passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.

Born June 5, 1930 in Earlehurst, Virginia, he was the son of the late Dennis R. and Virgie Kincaid Griffith.

"Wade" was a graduate of Dunlap High School of Hematite, Virginia, and received his B.S. degree from Virginia Southern College in Roanoke, Virginia.

He was a longtime member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church. Wade was the Charter President of the Lewisburg Jaycees, past President of Rotary and exalted ruler of Lewisburg Elks.

He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force and was part of the Atomic Projects in Nevada.

He also served as a Director of the Greenbrier Valley Bank. He was a 50 year long member of the Lewisburg Masonic Lodge, Masonic Order, and Shriners. He was appointed Ford Dealer of the Ford Dealership in Lewisburg and served on the Cincinnati Ford Dealers' Advertising Committee, as well as owner of Griffith-Bryant Ford in Lewisburg for a number of years.

He loved to play golf in his free time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Padgett Griffith; second wife, Joann Linsky Griffith; siblings, Fredrick G. and Pauline Carter.

Wade is survived by siblings, Regina May Brown of Covington, Virginia, and Guy D. Griffith of Lewisburg; also surviving is a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Rev. Bev Colombo officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peyton Hospice House at 1265 Maplewood Ave., Lewisburg, WV 24901.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
