Alleghany County Native Was Boiling Springs High School Class Valedictorian, Former Mizzy Dental Inspector

Mrs. Betty Susan Crowder Perkins, age 85, of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at The Woodlands Health and Rehab Center, Clifton Forge.

She was the wife of the late Lester Odell Perkins.

Mrs. Perkins was born March 4, 1935 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late George Howard Humphries and Dora Crowder.

She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Boiling Spring High School.

Mrs. Perkins was employed as a dental inspector by the former Mizzy plant in Clifton Forge.

Betty was a member of Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church as well as the Ladies Circle at the church. She enjoyed playing the piano and most of all, loved to spend time with her family.

Mrs. Perkins is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Brookman and husband, Alvis of Covington and Leslie Meadows of Covington; four grandchildren, Kimberly Brookman, Bootsie Ryder, Barbara Sue Townsend and Jared Ryan Meadows; fifteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Nye of St. Cloud, FL.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Justin Meadows.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. David Brown and Rev. Lynn Wright officiating.

A private family interment will follow the service in Bowyer Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to a charity of one's choice.
