Roger Cephas Boone, 92, of 204 Boone Road, Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.

Mr. Boone was born April 18, 1928, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Clarence and Gracie Judy Boone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Deacon, and a brother, Raymond Boone.

Roger retired after 44 years from Westvaco as a Bleaching Chemical Operator.

He was a charter member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church.

He also served 13 years in the Army Reserve and was an E7 First Sgt. and an expert sharpshooter.

He was a graduate of the International Correspondence School for Pulp and Paper. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making beautiful furniture.

Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Roselyn Ballard Boone of Covington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Brenda Boone of Covington and Preston and Paula Boone of Staunton; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family suggests that donations in Roger's name be made to your charity of choice.
