Bath County Native Was Retired Truck Driver, Marine Corps Veteran

William Payne (Billy) Deeds (a.k.a. Geronimo), age 84, of 411 Church Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge.

He was born August 21, 1936 in Bath County, Virginia to the late Robert Livingston Deeds and Virginia Wilson Schmader Deeds.

He was a truck driver for Team Carriers and served in the United States Marine Corps and the Army National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta Virginia Deeds Smith; a sister, Jane Deeds Hade; and a brother, Robert Livingston "Bob" Deeds.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Deeds Smith of Laurel, MD; a sister, Caroline Deeds Wilson of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Ron Wilson and wife, Dawn of Covington.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. The family will have a private service for him at a later date.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, handled the arrangements.
