Former White's Truck Stop Custodian Dies At Age 75

Clarence Donald Vess, 75, of Fairfield, Virginia, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his home.

Born January 24, 1945 in Lexington, he was a son of the late Charles Coleman Vess and Mary Myrtle Miller Vess.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Marylee Grant, and two sisters.

Clarence retired as a custodian at White's Truck Stop. He also worked many years for Amp and the city of Lexington.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Judith Tolley Shires Vess; children, Lisa Lee Grant (Jeffery) of Lexington, and David Stephen Vess of Staunton; stepdaughters, Debbie Reynolds (Gene), and Roxanna Price (Rodney); stepsons, Stevie Wayne Shires, and Bobby Dwayne Shires (Ginger); five brothers, Leonard Vess, Charles Vess, William Vess, Tommy Vess and Johnny Vess; four sisters, Barbara Ann Vest, Carolyn Buchanan, Lillian Porter, and Cathy Vess; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
