Obituary for Della Lea Simms Della Lea Simms
Lewisburg Resident Was Trinity United Methodist Church Member

Della Lea Simms, 92, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at Brier Nursing and Rehabilitation Home and is united with her husband Bud again.

Della was born October 26, 1928 in Frankford to the late George Mason and Myrtle Ford Brandt.

Della graduated from Frankford High School was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Della was an operator with C&P, had worked at the Federal Prison in Alderson, and also had worked at Kroger as a Floral Arranger.

Other than her parents, Della was preceded in death her husband of 70 years, Kenneth Lee "Bud" Simms; siblings, Leonard Brandt, Ruthie Brandt, Paul Brandt, Bill Brandt, Lillian Brown, Nellie Simms and Margaret Smith.

Kenneth Lee "Bud" Simms, 95, of Fairlea, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Brier Nursing and Rehab Center.

Bud was born February 26, 1923 at Maxwelton to the late Charles Carroll and Margaret Brown Simms.

Bud was Owner/Operator of Simm's Esso in Ronceverte from 1950 until 1960 when he sold it and then bought what is now Simm's Exxon in Lewisburg in 1960; a member of the Fairlea Ruritan Club, Lewisburg Rotary; American Legion Post # 200. Bud was a World War II Navy veteran having served as a tail gunner off of a Hellcat Dive-bomber having been awarded the Silver Star and Airman's Medal among others.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He served on many committees at Trinity and was a member of the Methodist Men.

Other than his parents, Bud was preceded in death by sisters; Catherine Simms and Ella McClung; brothers, James, Bill, Clarence, Ray, Perry "Snookie" and Charlie Simms.

Bud was a proud donor to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Surviving Della and Bud include daughter, Sandy Tuckwiller of Lewisburg; sons, Kenny Simms and wife, Donna of The Villages, FL; Larry Simms of Miami, FL, George Simms and wife, Diane Of Lewisburg; grandchildren, David Tuckwiller, Ross Tuckwiller and wife, Jenny, Kelly Tuckwiller Collins and husband, Zack, Amanda Karjan and husband, Andrew, Andrew Simms, Lisa Hagerty and husband, Gahn, Harry Simms, June Simms; great grandchildren, Tenner, Lochlan, Lola, Connor, Ward, Gracie, Josie, Lou, Laine and Cooper.

A joint funeral service for Bud and Della will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery with military rites for Bud.

There will be a walk through visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Brier Nursing and Rehabilitation Home for the care given to Della.

Strict Covid-19 regulation will be enforced during this time.
