Caldwell Resident Worked With Greenbrier Hotel Over 40 Years

Ronald Wayne Cruse, Sr., 69, of Caldwell, WV, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, Virginia after battling cancer.

Ron was born June 29, 1951 in Greenbrier County, WV, a son of the late James William and Eda Jane Fitzgerald Cruse.

He worked for the Greenbrier Hotel over 40 years maintaining most of the upholstery work you still see throughout the resort today. During that duration he also opened and operated his own shop, Greenbrier Upholstery.

In his free time, Ron reconstructed his father's 1954 Chevy pickup truck and it was something he took great pride in.

Above all else, Ron loved his wife, sons, and his grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Duane Cruse.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joyce Marie Cruse; sons, Ronald "Ronnie" Cruse, Jr., and Mark William Cruse and his wife, Becca; brothers, Jimmy, and Ricky Cruse; five grandchildren, Gavin, Caleb, Tristan, Kyra, and Reina; special nephew, Chad Cruse and his wife, Emily; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Rosewood Cemetery Mausoleum, Lewisburg, WV. Services will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations are made in Ronald's memory by visiting www.cancer.org.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
