Derrick (Squek) Gray Liptrap, 31, of Covington, Virginia passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born May 16, 1989 in Waynesboro, Virginia, the son of Mark James and Tonya Elaine (McLaughlin) Liptrap of Stuarts Draft, Virginia.

He was employed as a carpenter with the Omni Homestead Resort.

Derrick was the life of the party…the biggest jokester you would ever meet. He always had a big smile on his face and would light up any room. "I love you" was a big part of his vocabulary. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He had a big interest in guns and loved to re-load ammunition with his father.

Derrick was a family man and especially loved to be around children. Some of his favorite hobbies included drawing with his daughter, "spa dates" with his girls, and wrestling with his boys.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancé, Brittany Webb of Covington; six children, Azaria, Skyler, Kenah, Mikai, Amiah and Cohen, all of Covington; brothers, Darrell Liptrap of Greenville, Virginia, Aaron Robertson of Stuarts Draft, Atley Robertson and wife, Bethany of Hot Springs, Virginia, Clinton Robertson of Hot Springs; grandmother, Betty McLaughlin of Stuarts Draft; grandmother, Mary "Sissy" Taylor of Stuarts Draft; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jeff "Jack Rabbit" and Crystal Robertson and son, Nathanial of Hot Springs; special aunt and uncle, Matthew and Una Liptrap of Stuarts Draft; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Louie and Mildred Liptrap; great grandmother, Elsie Dameron and great grandmother, Imogene McLaughlin.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be handled by the McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
