Natural Well Native Worked With The Homestead For 74 Years

Dora Caroline Virginia Strasser, 95, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at The Seasons Place in Lewisburg, West Virginia.

She was born September 2, 1925 in Natural Well, Virginia, the daughter of the late Dallas Alvon May and Pauline Andrews May.

Mrs. Strasser was employed with The Omni Homestead Resort as a general cashier for a total of 74 years, retiring at the age of 92. She had the distinction of being employed longer than anyone in the history of the company.

She was a 1942 Graduate of Valley High School, a member of the Hot Spring Presbyterian Church, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She had two hobbies, shopping and working, which she thoroughly enjoyed both. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

She was married to the late Leonard Loy Phillips who preceded her in death in 1968 and the late Jack Strasser who preceded her in death in 1989.

She is survived by three children, Tracy Phillips and wife, Carol of Hot Springs, Virginia, Dan Phillips and wife, Valarie of Naples, Florida, Julie Strasser Giese of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Lee Phillips and wife, Ginni of Covington, Virginia, Janice Kidd and husband, Dusty of Strasburg, Virginia, Jonathan Phillips of Roanoke, Virginia, Carrie Holmes and Chris of Murrels Inlet, South Carolina, Elizbeth Ginnis of Grove City, Pennsylvania, Ella Giese and Zachary Giese, both of Atlanta, Georgia; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; three brothers, Walker May of Hot Springs, Virginia, Ashby May of Bacova, Virginia, Ernie May and wife, Becky of Grove City, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dallas May, Jr., and a sister, Maxine May.

A private family celebration of her life will be held Thursday, February 11, 2021. Interment will be in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Craig Phillips, Kris Phillips, Keswick Phillips, Lee Phillips, John Phillips, Jake Phillips, and Mark Griffin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hot Springs Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 476, Hot Springs, Virginia.
