Obituary for Rodney Warren Kyle Rodney Warren Kyle
Hot Springs Resident Dies At Age 90

Mr. Rodney Warren Kyle, age 90, of Hot Springs, Virginia, died Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Bath Community Hospital.

He was the husband of Doris Colvin Kyle.

Mr. Kyle was born on August 27, 1930 in Bath County, the son of the late Rodney Daggs Kyle and Jane Madison Kyle.

He served his country as a member of the United States Army where he was a fixed wing and helicopter pilot. While in the service, he was a part of the All Army Pistol Team and was featured in the American Rifle Magazine. Following his active duty service, Mr. Kyle was in the Army Reserves and National Guard before retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 with the Army Aviation National Guard after a total of thirty-four years of service to our country.

During his working career, Rodney was an engineer for Union Camp / International Paper Company in Franklin, Virginia.

Mr. Kyle was a former member, deacon, elder, and trustee at Franklin Presbyterian Church.

After moving back to the Alleghany Highlands in retirement, he was a member, elder, and trustee at Falling Spring Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He was a member and served as secretary of the Falling Spring Ruritans as well as served on the Alleghany County Zoning Appeals Board. Rodney volunteered at the former Alleghany Regional Hospital for many years along with helping members of this community by volunteering with the Men of Mission.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kyle is survived by a son, Rodney Lee Kyle (Laura); two daughters, Lyn Kyle Manson (Bill Jr.) and Reba Ann Kyle Petrosky (David); three grandchildren, Mary Kyle Manson Wasilewski (Andy), Ashby Gresham Manson, and Rodney Adam Kyle (Hannah); special cousin, Kitty Madison Cassell; cousins, Jean Carson Campbell and Dr. James Deacon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kyle was preceded in death by his infant sister.

A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2021 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Matlack officiating. Interment followed at Falling Spring Evangelical Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers were Larry Craft, Timmy Blake, Isaac Blake, Anthony Fitzgerald, Eddie Smith, Harry Bunch. Honorary pallbearers were Chet Fornwalt and Charles Fornwalt. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Falling Spring Evangelical Presbyterian Church, C/O Rev.
