Obituary for John Michael (Mike) Wrenn, Sr. John Michael (Mike) Wrenn, Sr.
CSX Retiree Was Clifton Forge Native

John Michael (Mike) Wrenn, Sr., age 72, of 5353 Old Fincastle Road in Fincastle, Virginia, departed this life on February 16, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

Mike was born October 12, 1948 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Florence Ayers Wrenn and John H. Wrenn, Jr.

He worked for CSX Transportation for over 30 years.

He enjoyed hunting, especially deer and bear, but he really enjoyed his tractors, hay fields, and tending his cows and chickens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeane W. WIlliams and Cherry W. Conner; and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca G. Wrenn.

He is survived by his spouse and caregiver, Barbara Wrenn of the home; a son, John M. Wrenn, Jr. of Fincastle; two grandsons, Marshall Wrenn (Stephanie) of Vinton and Adam Wrenn (fiancée, Ashley Williams) of Buchanan; a granddaughter, Madison C. Wrenn (fiancé, Jarod Hix) of Fincastle; two great grandsons, his "boys", Hayden and Noah of Vinton; a great granddaughter, his "Bee Bop", Eleanor Wrenn; two sisters, JoAnn Mays (Malcolm) of Paeonian Springs and Sue W. Nicely of Clifton Forge; a brother-in-law, Delmas Conner of Clifton Forge; his special girls, Heather, Gretchen "Munchkin", and his buddy, Donald Huffman.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating.

Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Botetourt County. Pallbearers will be Donald Huffman, Larry Newcomb, Steven Nicely, Adam Wrenn, Marshall Wrenn, and Charlie Conner. The family will be present on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, or to Botetourt County Fire and EMS, 205 North Roanoke Street Suite 1, Fincastle, VA 24090.
