Obituary for Charles (Charlie) Gordon Watts Jr. Charles (Charlie) Gordon Watts Jr.
Natural Bridge Station Resident Dies At Age 67

Charles (Charlie) Gordon Watts Jr., 67, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, died February 12, 2021.

Son of the late Red and Lois Watts, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, George M. "Sandy" McMillan.

Charlie was born October 17, 1953 in Lexington.

He was a 1972 graduate of Natural Bridge High School where he was the star quarterback for the Rockets for several years. Then, after graduating in 1977 from Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in commercial art, he returned to Rockbridge County and the mountains he loved to establish a graphic design business. His amazing art talent was evident in his commercial work as well as the beautiful paintings he created.

Charlie is survived by his sister, Kitty Watts McMillan; nephews, George McMillan III (Abbey), Gordon McMillan, Robert McMillan (Abigail); great-niece, Eleanor June McMillan; several cousins; special friend, Glenna Taylor; many life-long buddies and his devoted dog, Smokey.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 6 at the Glasgow Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are respectfully requested.

As we all know, Charlie loved every kind of animal and being surrounded by God's beautiful nature. To honor his memory you may donate to the SPCA, any organization that preserves this earth's great bounty or simply take the time to stop and appreciate the natural beauty found in the mountains where his roots and soul were firmly planted.

Go rest high on the mountain my dear, sweet brother. Your work here is done.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
