Obituary for Jerry Ward Judy Jerry Ward Judy
Hercules Retiree Was Former Military Policeman

Mr. Jerry Ward Judy, age 79, of Covington, Virginia, died Monday, April 5, 2021 at his home.

He was the husband of Nadine Shue Judy.

Mr. Judy was born February 11, 1942 in Corn Stalk, WV, the son of the late Berlin Brown Judy and Ruth Alleyne Scott Judy.

He served his country as a member of the Military Police in the United States Army where he was a highly-decorated sharpshooter and was widely considered an expert marksman.

Jerry was employed as an electrician with the former Hercules, Inc., retiring after twenty-eight years of service.

Mr. Judy attended Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was a fifty-three year member of the Covington Moose Lodge #610 Loyal Order of the Moose where he held the Moose Legionaire degree.

An avid outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed turkey hunting especially spring gobbler season, fishing at Lake Moomaw, going to Nags Head and trapping. Mr. Judy also loved staying at the "Boar's Den" camp on Cold Knob Mountain, WV, where he enjoyed both deer hunting and bear hunting.

The last surviving member of his family, he truly loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his wife, Nadine, Mr. Judy is survived by one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Debbie Shue and Tim Shue of Charlotte, NC; a sister-in-law, Ruth McCarty and husband, Jimmy of Richmond; one niece; two nephews; five great nephews; one great-great niece; and two great-great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Judy was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall Judy and Lefty Judy and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilson and Rose Shue.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Shorty Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Judy, John Judy, Channing Judy, Devon Judy, Christopher Sizemore, Dennis Carter, Shell Shue and Troy Shue.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Boys’ Home, Inc. 306 Boys’ Home Road, Covington VA, 24426, Covington Fire Department, 435 W. Hawthorne St. Covington VA, 24426 or Covington Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 588, 435 W. Hawthorne St., Covington VA, 24426.

The family will be present at Loving Funeral Home Friday morning from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.

The family would like family and friends to meet at the Covington Moose Lodge #610 Loyal Order of the Moose at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon to honor Jerry's life with a time of fellowship.
