Jean Walker Drake departed this life on August 26, 2021 at her home in Buena Vista, Virginia.

She was originally from South Boston and attended Halifax County schools.

Mrs. Drake is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald G. Drake of Buena Vista; daughters, Laurie Drake of Buena Vista, Beverly Drake of Lexington, Caroline Drake Amsel of Chester, and Elizabeth Drake-Coleman of Waynesboro. She is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Crews and Debbie Pryor. She was the beloved "Nonny" of eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by their son, Howard Robert Drake; her parents, Dudley Shelton and Ethel Walker; brothers, Jesse Seamster and Nathan Walker; and sister, Carol Gordon.

The most pleasant experiences for Mrs. Drake were spending time with her family. Her grandchildren loved when she made them Spaghetti Os, peanut butter and banana sandwiches, and chocolate milk as they watched old British comedies on TV.

She was an exceptional seamstress, making many outfits for her children. She also loved to produce ceramic crafts and photography. Additionally, she loved to travel to Halifax County to visit her family and she loved to travel to Williamsburg to shop and enjoy the history.

The funeral was conducted Monday, August 30 with interment at Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista.
