Obituary for Oscar Mack McCrowell Jr. Oscar Mack McCrowell Jr.
U. S. Army Veteran Was Skilled Builder

Oscar Mack McCrowell Jr., originally of Rockbridge County, Virginia, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Mack was born on March 7, 1933 to the late Oscar Mack McCrowell Sr. and the late Elizabeth Carter McCrowell.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Cummings McCrowell; two sons, Franklin Eli McCrowell of Goshen and Oscar Mack McCrowell III of Richmond (wife, Kelly, and grandchildren, Brendan, Natalie, and Samuel Oscar); stepdaughter, Jacque Bruce of Lexington; brother, Donald F. McCrowell Sr. of Ranier, Wash.; and sister, Lillian A. McCrowell of South Boston; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Mack was preceded in death by one brother, C. C. (Jim) McCrowell Sr., and one sister, Sandra M. Rushing.

Mack was a skilled builder, having built or remodeled many houses in the Rockbridge area. He ran the family farm. Mack was an amazing gardener, chef, and dowser. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and formed deep friendships over his 88 years.

Mack supported the Moose International of America, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

A celebration of life will be held sometime in the future in Rockbridge County.
