Allie Catherine (Kate) Fainter Renz, 89, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021.

She was born October 11, 1932 in Natural Bridge Station, the daughter of the late Alexander Haden Fainter and Mary Smith Fainter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Wayne Renz Sr., and her sons, Frederick Wayne Renz Jr. and Jonathan Layne Renz. Also, brothers Haden G. Fainter, Harlan G. Fainter and Dewey M. Fainter and sisters, Mary F. Vines and Doris F. Stark preceded her in death.

Catherine was a member of the First Brethren Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Renz Evans and husband, Rick; four grandchildren, Jonathan Renz, Jordan Renz, Aleta Gaertner and Wendy Kollmann; and four great-granddaughters. In addition, she is survived by sisters, Caroline F. Claytor (Rex), Sophie F. Camden, and Joyce F. Hambrick; brother-in-law, Glen Stark; sister-in-law, Jean Fainter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 24 at Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. W. David Bain officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice or the Buena Vista Rescue Squad.
