Gladys DeVenny Jeffries, age 88, of 201 Portland Ave, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, December 11, 2021 at LewisGale Hospital- Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was born May 1, 1933 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Leo DeVenny and Nellie Hicks DeVenny.

She was an independent insurance agent and a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

She loved quilting and enjoyed all sports. She loved being involved in the Christmas Home Tour and was an avid traveler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Jeffries; a grandson, Isaac Jeffries; three sisters, and a brother.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Bernard L. Jeffries of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Ellen Kormann and husband, Joe of Roanoke; a son, David Jeffries and wife, Debbie of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Jean Buchanan of Clifton Forge and Ina Cales of Covington; four grandchildren, Matthew Hancock, Stephen Hancock, Mallory Dudley and husband, Oler, Dylan Jeffries and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Reverend Lynn Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
