Clifton Forge Resident Dies At Age 63 After Battle With Cancer

Katana (Kandi) Lynn Johnson, age 63, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, passed away after a short but cruel battle with cancer on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at The Spring Tree Nursing Home in Vinton, Virginia.

Kandi was born on January 17, 1958 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Ernest Clay Johnson, Sr. and Mildred "Smitty" Smith Johnson.

She was a member of the Central Advent Christian Church.

Kandi graduated from Clifton Forge High School in 1976, and graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College School of Nursing as well as obtaining an Associate's Degree in Business.

She was a nurse where she worked in acute care, home health, and at the end of her career she worked in private sitting. She loved the people she cared for, and she was as generous as she could be with her family. Kandi loved to read, gardening and spending time with family.

She is survived by a sister, Ann Johnson Vess and her husband, Mitch; a brother, Clay Johnson, Jr.; two nephews, Matthew Vess and his wife, Mariah and Patrick Vess and his wife, Courtney; two great nieces, Allison Vess and Cameron Vess; and a great nephew, Dean Vess.

Services will be private. Family and friends may visit Friday, December 17, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. of the home of Mitch and Ann Vess, 200 Hunters Ridge Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422.

Kandi would like to thank those that were faithful to visit at the end of her life. She will be greatly missed.
