Obituary for Emily Whiteside Nuckols Emily Whiteside Nuckols
Lexington Resident Was Longtime Neriah Baptist Church Member

Emily Whiteside Nuckols, age 79, of Lexington, Virginia, went to be with our Lord in Heaven on the Wednesday morning of December 22, 2021.

She was born in her parent's home located in Rockbridge Baths on September 30, 1942.

Emily is preceded in death by her father and mother, William Davis and Beulah Cash Whiteside; as well as her brother and sisters, Eddie Whiteside, Charlene Falls, Jean Edwards, Vivian Nicely and Shirley Fitzgerald.

Emily graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1961, and took jobs working as a greeting card representative for Hallmark, and American Greetings. In the years leading to her passing, she ran a rental property with her husband in the beautiful Lexington area.

However, Emily is best known for her time as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children, and especially her grandchildren. She was a devout member of the congregation at Neriah Baptist Church, and was admired for her kind words that always brought out the best in others. You have never met a kinder and more giving soul; she shined love into every room and was a blessing in every home.

Emily Nuckols is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 58 years, Richard Nuckols Jr.; her daughter and son, Jennifer Brown (Eddie), and Jeff Nuckols; her grandchildren, Mathew Brown and Victoria Nuckols; sisters, Dottie Whiteside and Phyllis Staton (Roy); and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 28 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. David Bain and the Rev. William Thomas officiating.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
