Obituary for Kimberly Nicole Carroll Kimberly Nicole Carroll
Iron Gate Resident Was Clifton Forge First Baptist Church Member

Kimberly Nicole Carroll, age 40, of 204 Railroad Ave, Iron Gate, Virginia, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.

She was born on December 22, 1981 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor, Virginia to the late Roxie Ann Ray and Buddy Carroll.

She graduated from Mary Baldwin University with a Bachelor of Arts and from Liberty University with a Master of Arts.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge.

Over the years, Kim was known across Alleghany County and the surrounding communities for her roles with Safehome women's shelter in Covington, where she served as an adult counselor helping women to regain assurance and self-reliance; with the YMCA childcare program of Low Moor, where she passionately cared for a number of preschool children to develop skills for grade school; with Total Action for Progress (TAP) of Covington where she served as community service coordinator for the Fathers First program helping fathers to find employment, build relationships with their children, and obtain parenting skills; with Qualified Mental Health Professional Clinicians in Lexington where she provided home crisis interventions and treatment plans for clients and their families.

Kim also served on the Mountain View Elementary PTO, the Homeless Advisory Committee, the Early Childhood Committee, and the Community Alternatives for Positive Prevention Committee among others in service to others.

She is survived by her fiancé, Edgar Pierre; her brother, Derek Jamal Ray (Kaitlyn) of Clifton Forge; her two special nieces/daughters, Jacionna Ray and Jayonna Ray of Iron Gate (whom she loved dearly); her uncle, Warren Ray of Clifton Forge; her uncle, Robert Ray of Delaware; a dear friend, Amanda Elmore of Clifton Forge, and two close cousins, McKinley Wayne Ray of Covington and Lenora Cooper of Charlottesville. Other living relatives who have played important roles in Kim's life include her father, Buddy Carroll; her uncle, Michael Carroll and her aunt, Cathy Carroll; her aunt, Donna Carroll and a host of cousins, friends, and coworkers.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Roxie Ann Ray; her uncle, Ronald Keith Ray; her aunt, Catherine Bunch, and her grandmother, Ms. Carroll.

A special thank you to her uncle, Warren, who stood by her side throughout her health challenges over the last year taking her to and from her appointments in Charlottesville. She always knew she could count on him.

A service to celebrate Kim's life will be conducted on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The service will be officiated by Reverend Stephanie Clark. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Clifton Forge, VA.
