Obituary for Marian Marceline Nicely Colvin Marian Marceline Nicely Colvin
Iron Gate Native Was Active In Her Community; Was Longtime Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church Member

Marian Marceline Nicely Colvin, age 92, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, passed away January 26, 2022 at her residence, the Colvin home place, surrounded by her family, following a brief battle with cancer.

Marian was born August 16, 1929, to the late John Ernest Nicely and Annie Cornelia Sales Nicely and grew up in Iron Gate, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Carlton "Bill" Colvin (in 2014); brother, Obert T. Nicely; two great grandchildren, Madison Tarr and Cara Dunbar; and brother-in-law, Rodney Kyle.

She is survived by her three children, Robert Ernest Colvin and wife, Tian of Newport News, Richard Carlton Colvin of Clifton Forge, and Susan Elizabeth Brewer and husband, Jim of Alleghany County; grandchildren, Dana Wind (Brad), Carlena Dawn Warf (BJ), Caitlin Reed, Shonna Brann, Chris Colvin (Alexxis), Runtian Bai, John Colvin, Georginna Dunbar; a sister, Carolyn N. Bradley (Roger) of Glasgow; a sister-in-law Doris C. Kyle; twenty great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was a long-time member of the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church. Her primary dedication was to making a loving home for her family, but she also enjoyed engaging with the community through working part-time in Clifton Forge at W.T. Grants, Kroger (downtown), The Food Center, the "One Stop Shop", and at local elections.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 419, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, 544 Church Street, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

There will be a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Paul Brokaw officiating. Dear family friend Tommy Slusser of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is directing all final arrangements.
