Obituary for Doug Vest Doug Vest
Covington Resident Dies At Age 76

Doug Vest (aka DC) of Covington, Virginia, went to be with his Heavenly Lord and Savior on March 28, 2022 at the age of 76.

At the time of his passing, he was in Sovah Health Hospital in Danville, VA. He had been a resident of the Brian Center in Yanceyville, NC since September 2021.

Doug was born January 26, 1946 in Covington, Virginia to the late Frank Canere Vest and Gladys Virginia Loan Vest.

Doug moved to Aberdeen, MD and worked at Cytec Industries in Havre de Grace, MD until he retired in 2001. After moving to Aberdeen, MD, he met Jan Quinn Ginger and they were married in 1995.

After he retired, he and Jan moved back to Callaghan, VA. Doug was a fun loving man and loved spending times with his friends. He was really good at making people laugh. He loved Dr Pepper and eating out. He loved old cars and enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Turtle Booth, just driving around looking for old cars. It was nothing for them to drive up to 200 miles a day just looking around. Lots of times he would put money down on an old car he wanted and told Turtle not to tell Jan. He was a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team and the Ravens football team.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Jan, of 26 years; one daughter, Teresa Roberts; one grandson, John Roberts; and one granddaughter, Emily Roberts all in NC; one brother, Gene Vest (Norma) in VA; two stepdaughters, Debbie Cadorette and Donna Trigger; one stepson, Bob Ginger; three nephews, Frank, Danny, and Dave Vest; and many loving friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Vest; and a nephew, Timmy Vest.

A funeral service will be conducted at Temple Baptist Church in Covington, Virginia, with the Reverend William Hartsfield officiating. Interment will be at Alleghany Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Frank Vest, Danny Vest, Turtle Booth, Mike Booth, Jay Ervine, and Brandon Morris.

The family will receive friends at Temple Baptist Church, 300 Stratton St, Covington, VA on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. and the service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church. Loving Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements; www.lovingfuneralhome1913.com.
