Major Alvis (Cooter) Tomlinson, 68, of Lexington, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at his home.

Born July 2, 1953 in Lexington, he was a son of the late Harry Strickler Tomlinson Sr. and Noreen Susan Thomas Tomlinson.

Major was owner/operator of Hilltop Towing since 1971. He retired from Lexington Public Works and was a life member of the Lexington Rescue Squad.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Sue Tomlinson; son, Edward L. Tomlinson (Kim); two sisters, Katherine Taylor (AJ), and Thresa Moore (Wayne); two brothers, Harry S. Tomlinson II, and Stephen Tomlinson (Bernice); and two grandsons, Logan and Hunter Tomlinson that Major thought the world of.

At Major's request, no funeral service will be held but the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 25 at Harrison Funeral Home.
