Alleghany County Native Was Marine Corps Veteran, Self-Employed General Contractor

Clinton Caldwell Fridley, Jr., known to all his family and close friends as C.J., passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia with his family by his side.

C. J. was born January 31, 1952 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Clinton Caldwell Fridley, Sr. and Alice Mildred Parkins Fridley.

He served in the United States Marines and was a self-employed general contractor for many years in Tennessee and Alleghany County. He was the first person to introduce and install vinyl siding to the greater part of Elizabethton, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Woodson and Brenda Lewis.

He is survived by four sons, Anthony Fridley (Kristi), Jeremy Fridley, Eric Fridley (Janice Kennedy), and Travis Fridley; five sisters, Linda Stinnett (Joe), Lisa Dilley (Kenny), Penny Anderson (Stacey), Terrie Hippert (Bobby), and Laura Humphries (Jeff); eight brothers, Kevin Fridley (Melinda), Barry Fridley (Lisa), Perry Fridley (Wanda), Loren Fridley (Will), Danny Fridley (Jackie), Wesley Fridley (Brent), Randall Fridley (Stephanie), and Patrick Fridley (Melissa); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. Following the service, there will be a meal at Maw and Paw's Diner in Eagle Rock.
