Homestead Retiree Was Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church Member

Nellie Juanita Harouff Gwin, 88, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Springs Nursing Center.

She was born September 5, 1934 in Burnsville, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Christian Harouff and Laura Eugina Carpenter Harouff.

She was married to the late Lawrence Burton Gwin, who preceded her in death on December 17, 2017.

Mrs. Gwin retired from the Homestead Resort in 1995 where she worked as a maid in the Virginia Building for many years.

She was a member of Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by three children, Donna Foster and husband, Wayne of Chesterfield, Virgina, Linda Gwin of Hot Springs, Jeanie Dressler and husband, Jeff of Falling Springs, Virginia; grandchildren, John and wife, Kristen, Shawn and wife, Amanda, Cory, Jeffrey, Jonathan, and Lori; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Blakely, Walker, Gracie, and Isiah.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Styrl Harouff and Wayne Harouff; and a granddaughter, Sara Nicole Gwin.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2022 at Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will be private at a later date in Warm Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Susan Phillips, P. O. Box 251, Warm Springs, Virginia 24484.

The McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
