Longtime VMI Reference Librarian Dies At Age 76

Wylma Elizabeth Pooser Davis (Sis), 76, died Saturday, March 25, 2006.

She was born in Greenville, S.C. on November 22, 1929 to the late Wylma Mae Berry and Arthur Keith Pooser.

She graduated from Salem College in 1951 and received a master's degree from the Catholic University of America in 1980. She served as a reference librarian for the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington for 25 years.

She was a lifelong member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Keith Pooser, Jr.

Survivors includes a daughter and son-in-law, Keith Davis Blouin and Joe Blouin of Tampa, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Anne Davis Coleman and Ellis Coleman of Kennett Square, PA; a son, James P. "Pete" Davis, Collierstown; a sister, Dotty Poser Deaton of Annapolis, MD; three grandsons; and five nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Lexington Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Klein officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Mary Monroe Penick Music Fund of the Lexington Presbyterian Church or the Rockbridge Area Hospice.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory in Lexington.
