Obituary for Thelma McNeely (Jake) Martin Thelma McNeely (Jake) Martin
Operated Beauty Shop From Her Glasgow Home

Thelma McNeely (Jake) Martin, 90, of Glasgow, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2006 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington.

Mrs. Martin was born on March 5, 1916 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Bernard E. McNeely and Mary Elizabeth Jordan McNeely.

She was a member of the Glasgow Presbyterian Church and operated a beauty shop from her home in Glasgow for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael L. Martin; three sisters: Eunice McNeely Binion, Lena McNeely Spence, Helen McNeely Douglas and two brothers, Harold D. McNeely and Julian T. McNeely.

Mrs. Martin is survived by two sons: Freddy W. Martin of Buena Vista and Steve and Sharon Martin of Lexington; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; eight sisters: Edith McNeely Martin, Kathleen McNeely Smith, both of Lynchburg; Vivian McNeely Snead of Chester, Lois McNeely Reynolds of Big Island, Nellie McNeely Jennings of Bedford; Barbara McNeely Rader and Joan McNeely Arthur, both of Lynchburg; Norma McNeely Williams of Big Island; one brother, Charles L. McNeely of Coleman Falls and a very special friend, Sue Higgins of Buena Vista.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Glasgow Presbyterian Church with Rev. Timothy Osment officiating. Burial will follow in the Glasgow Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
