Obituary for Walter Lee Rogers, Sr. Walter Lee Rogers, Sr.
Self-Employed Logger Was National Guard Veteran

Walter Lee Rogers, Sr., age 82, of 306 Dairy Street, Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.

Walter was born July 21, 1940 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Walter Nolan and Leola Paxton Rogers.

He enjoyed working and was a self-employed logger who also served in the National Guard for six years.

He loved traveling, vacationing, and spending time with his family. He was a NASCAR fan and followed the career of Kevin Harvick

. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Newcomb Rogers of Covington; three daughters, Theresa Beane of Richmond, Pamela Wolfe and husband, Tony of Valley Ridge, Covington, and Janell Morris of Roanoke; three sons, Walter Rogers, Jr. and wife, Betsey, Dean Rogers, and Joseph Rogers, all of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Phyllis Ramsey and Shirley Humphries, both of Covington; ten grandchildren, Brendle Wolfe, Bobbie Wagner, C. J. Barron, Molly Rogers, Abby Rogers, Katie Beane Walton and husband, James, Scott Beane, Henry Rogers, Joseph Rogers, and Jacob Rogers and wife, Samantha; four great grandchildren, Jemma, Nolan, Corbin, and Sawyer; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Phillip Tomlin and Gerald Nininger.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Donnie Martin officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
