Obituary for Alfred Lee Miller Alfred Lee Miller
VMI Graduate Was Retired Highway Engineer

Alfred Lee Miller, 74, of Lexington, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at his home from natural causes.

Mr. Miller was born on May 29, 1931 in Chesapeake, the son of the late Alfred Christian Miller and Iona Lee West Miller.

He was a 1953 graduate from VMI and was a member of the VMI Alumni Association.

A former educator, he was a retired engineer with the Federal Highway Administration. At one time, he was active in the Boy Scouts as a leader.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by a sister, Clara M. Laumann of Virginia Beach.

Survivors include a brother, Robert S. Miller of Virginia Beach; six nieces and nephews: Debra L. Kiser, James D. W. Laumann, Anita L. Gogola, Lewis A. Laumann, Jr., Robert S. Miller, Jr. and Star M. Stone; and 10 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Monsignor Andrew Cassin officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James D. W. Laumann, Lewis A. Laumann, Jr., Ben Purses, Timothy J. Kiser, Jeffrey M. Kiser, J. Adam Kiser and James W. Kiser.

A memorial reception will be held at Moody Hall at VMI following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Rockbridge SPCA, P. O. Box 528, Lexington, Va. 24450.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
