Baker Brothers Retiree With Sam Houston Ruritan Charter Member

Charles Newton Harlow, 80, of Spottswood, died Friday, April 21, 2006 in the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

Mr. Harlow was born on February 17, 1926 in Raphine, the last surviving child of the late Arthur Edward Harlow and Katherine Elizabeth Jarvis Harlow.

He was a member of the Timber Ridge A.R.P. Church in Lexington, was a charter member of the Sam Houston Ruritan Club, was a member of the V.F.W. post #1499.

He retired from Baker Brothers after 29 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harlow was preceded in death by four brothers: William Harlow, Lurtle Harlow, Melvin Harlow and Francis Harlow; one sister, Louise Chittum and two great grandchildren, Ryan Ellis Smedley and Trey Bass.

Mr. Harlow is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Lotts Harlow of Spottswood; four daughters: Doris Jean Fauber and husband Charles, Emily Gayle Harlow, Betty Lou Koogler and husband Doug, Connie Sue Harlow, all of Raphine; two sons: Charles Stephen Harlow and wife Debbie of Lexington; Scott Edward Harlow and wife Tina of Fairfield; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2006 in the Timber Ridge Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Timber Ridge A.R.P. Church with Stan Hule and Rev. H. Max Bolin officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfield First Aid, 5885 N. Lee Highway, Fairfield, Va. 24435. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
