Obituary for Steve Colin Hintze Steve Colin Hintze
Community Leader Was Former Willson Walker House Restaurant General Manager

Steve Colin Hintze, 52, husband of Cynthia R. Hintze, of Lexington, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 in Natural Bridge, Virginia.

He was born on June 19, 1953 in Waynesboro, Virginia, the son of Colin F. and Nancy M. Hintze of Longs, South Carolina.

In addition to his parents and wife of 29 years, Steve is survived by a son, Stephen Brandon Hintze of Arlington, Virginia; a daughter, Emily Britt Hintze of Lexington; and a sister and brother-in-law, Laura H. and her husband Dennis Daughtery of Weyers Cave, Virginia. Steve was a 1971 graduate of Waynesboro High School and a 1975 graduate of Emory and Henry College, receiving a BA degree in Biology.

Steve and his wife moved to Lexington in 1985 where he served as former Chairman of the United Way of Lexington-Rockbridge Campaign, former member of the Lexington-Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, LDDA, the Lexington Architectural Review Board and was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church. Steve was also the founder of The Generals Club for the United Way.

Steve enjoyed gardening, cooking, music, movies, his family and spending time with his many friends and the people he met while he was the General Manager of the Willson Walker House Restaurant from 1985-2005.

He was currently the Dining Room Manager at the Natural Bridge Hotel.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in the Lexington Presbyterian Church by the Rev. William Klein. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that those desiring may make memorial donations to the Lexington Presbyterian Church Educational Grant Fund, 120 South Main Street, Lexington, Virginia 24450 or to the United Way of Lexington-Rockbridge County, 218 South Main Street, Lexington, Virginia 24450.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
