Obituary for Raymond Carroll Gladwell Raymond Carroll Gladwell
Army Veteran Was Retired From County PSA

Raymond Carroll Gladwell, 83, of Raphine, died Friday, June 23, 2006 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington.

He was born on March 27, 1923 in Rockingham County, a son of the late Aaron Frank and Ollie (Reese) Gladwell.

Mr. Gladwell was retired from the Rockbridge County Public Service Authority.

He was a member of the Timber Ridge A.R.P. Church, was a U.S. Army veteran, a veteran of the U.S. National Guard and was a past member of the Lexington V.F.W. Post 1499.

In addition to his wife, Mrs. Lena Pearl (Hartless) Gladwell, who preceded him in death on June 25, 2005, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Marvin, Hershel, Bill, Ed, Charlie and Boyd Gladwell; and three sisters: Louise Gladwell, Annabel Sleadd and Elizabeth Mahood.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Gladwell is survived by a special nephew, Mr. James Mahood, and a number of other nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2006 in the Spring Valley Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Gordon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
