Obituary for John William Thompson John William Thompson
Glasgow Baptist Church Member Was Active In His Community

John William Thompson, 83, of Natural Bridge, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Kendal.

Mr. Thompson was born on March 11, 1923 in Natural Bridge, the son of the late Isaac J. Thompson and Lillie Bertha McDaniel Thompson.

He was a very active member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and was very dedicated to the nursing home, truck stop, and jail ministries.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Ginger Thompson of Natural Bridge; four children: Larry W. Thompson and wife Penny of Moyock, NC, John William Thompson Jr. and wife Kathy of Newport News; Ronnie G. Thompson and wife Judy of Glasgow; Paul D. Thompson and wife Beth of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Leslie Thompson, Glasgow; six sisters: Gladys Gilbert and Mary Hite, both of Buena Vista; Betty Flint, Peggy Dudley, Billie Ann Kirby, all of Natural Bridge; Melba Tomlin of Vinton; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Thomas and Rev. George Warden officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbrige Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glasgow First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
