We bid a loving farewell to John Allen Clark Sr. of Lexington, Virginia.
He was a great father, Paw Paw, brother, uncle, and true friend who departed from this world on April 12, 2025, at Augusta Health, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.
John walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone he encountered with an unforgettable grace. John never met a stranger who did not become a blessed individual by this presence.
He had several hobbies that he enjoyed during his time on this earth. He had a love for baseball in his earlier years, was the owner of several Ford Mustangs, which he raced in dirt track racing and drag racing, winning many trophies.
John was a member of the Lexington Moose Lodge, where he loved to dance and listen to old country music.
In his most recent years after his retirement from Mohawk in Glasgow, he loved to play golf and had several special friends that he played with on a weekly basis. He especially loved floating the James River with friends and family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Grover and Edith Dudley Clark; and three of his siblings, Grover Lee, David Herman, and Bernard Leech Clark.
John is survived by his children, Teresa Lopez, John Allen Clark Jr., Brandon Clark, and James Clark (Hayley). John had nine grandchildren, Blakelee Scheider, Easton Clark, Robyn Bahhur, Jenna Clark, Paige Clark, Kristin Escobar, Kelly Clements, Katie Clements and Justin Escobar, all of the Rockbridge County area. He was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren.
John is survived by one sister, Ellen Clark Cooper of Lexington, and an adopted brother, Willard Smith of Richmond. John also had several very special nieces and nephews: Kimberly Hostetter (Henry), Gregory Clark (Renee), Jonathan Clark (Melanie), Mary Margaret Hedgepeth (Doug), Bernard Clark (Diana), Tammy Abernathy (George), and Jerry E. Ruley Jr.
A celebration of life will be held at the Lexington Moose Lodge, located at 1465 Thornhill Road, Lexington, on April 26 from noon to 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Augusta Health Foundation Nursing Excellence Program, P. O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
