Obituary for Nancy Keller Watkins Nancy Keller Watkins
Former Covington Resident, Nurse and Christ United Methodist Church Member, Dies At Age 87

Ms. Nancy Keller Watkins, age 87, of Roanoke, Virginia, died Friday, May 9, 2025, at Our Lady of the Valley, Roanoke.

Ms. Watkins was born September 28, 1937, in Covington, the daughter of the late Robert Jerome Keller and Mabel Bell Glover Keller.

An exemplary student who excelled at singing, dancing, and playing the piano, Nancy took business classes at Covington High School and was a member of the choir. She was also a graduate of the former C&O Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1959.

She was employed as a nurse by the former Alleghany Regional Hospital for a number of years before her retirement.

Nancy was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church as well as a member of the church circle. Ms. Watkins truly loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially going on beach vacations, shopping, going out to eat, and taking trips with them.

Ms. Watkins is survived by two daughters, Darlene Hahn and husband, Tim of Moneta, VA and Bonnie Humphries and husband, Mark of Covington, VA ; four grandchildren, Mathew Hahn, Austin Hahn and wife, Lexi, Megan Morgan and husband, Devin and Jon Patrick Humphries and wife, Kayla; four great grandchildren, Roselynn Hahn, Jon Tenor Humphries, Elsie Humphries and Josie Morgan; her brother, Emmett L. Keller of Roanoke; nephew, Kevin Keller and wife, Debbie; great nephews, Bobby Keller and Jackson Keller; and great niece, Maria Armentrout Callaway and husband, George of Crozet, VA Ms. Watkins was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Watkins Wolfe; the father of her children, Earl L. Watkins, Jr.; her brother, Robert Dayton Keller, known by family and friends as Bobby; and her sister-in-law, Patricia Ann.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Vashist Nobbee, PCP, for his help and guidance while she was under his care prior to being transitioned to long-term care. Special thanks also to all the staff at Our Lady of the Valley and Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care and compassion to Nancy and her family during her lengthy illness.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Those wishing to attend the service should assemble at Alleghany Memorial Park by 10:30 a.m.
