Obituary for Katherine Louise Simmons Pritt Katherine Louise Simmons Pritt
Covington Resident Dies At Age 70

Mrs. Katherine Louise Simmons Pritt, age 70, of Covington, Virginia, died on Friday, August 15, 2025, at home with her family holding her hands while she entered the gates of heaven.

She was the wife of Thomas Weldon Pritt, to whom she was married for 51 years. She always enjoyed telling others that although they were married for 51 years, they have been together since they were 13 years old.

Mrs. Pritt was born June 21, 1955 in the Sweet Chalybeate area of Alleghany County, Virginia. She is the daughter of the late Vernie Allen Simmons and Stella Jane Thompson Simmons.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, caring for others, playing bingo, dancing, listening to music and watching movies. A caring and outgoing person, Katherine also enjoyed giving to those in need, cooking, doing laundry and never met a stranger.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pritt is survived by one daughter, Lisa Dawn Pritt Crawford and husband, Andrew; one grandson, Nathaniel Thomas McKinney; one brother, Jimmy Simmons; one sister, June Simmons; a number of nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Penny Campbell; her four-legged baby girl, Rose; and caregivers from Connections Plus Hospice.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pritt was preceded in death by three brothers, William Simmons, Vernie Simmons, Jr., Herbert Simmons; and four sisters, Thelma Lamb, Blanche Crane, Nancy Hosey, and Juanita Laughlin.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 21, 2025 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Brown officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.

Katherine loved the color PURPLE and the family requests that those attending the service wear purple or bright colors to help celebrate her beautiful soul. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Loving Funeral Home.

Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; to view Katherine's memorial tribute page, please visit www.lovingfuneralhome.com.
