White Sulphur Springs Resident, Avid Gardener, Dies At Age 61

Melinda Susan (Mindy) Jones, 61, of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Lewis Gale Medical Center – Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.

Born May 23, 1964, in Clifton Forge, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edward Anderson and Patty Lee Gillespie Henson, and was also preceded in death by her stepfather, William Herschel Henson.

Ms. Jones dedicated her career to the care of children as a valued childcare worker for Mountain Heart, where her compassion, patience, and professionalism positively influenced the lives of many.

She was deeply devoted to her family, finding her greatest joy in the company of her children and especially her grandchildren.

An avid gardener, Mindy delighted in planting and nurturing flowers, proudly exhibiting her harvests at the West Virginia State Fair. She was widely appreciated for her culinary talents, notably her renowned Applesauce Cake, which became a favorite among family and friends. She cherished opportunities to travel, particularly to the beach, where she found peace and happiness.

Ms. Jones’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and love - a legacy that lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be remembered always for her warmth, her generosity, and her unwavering devotion to the well-being of others.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of thirty-five years, Greg Jones; daughters, Trista Workman (Gary) and Kelsey Parker (Jameson); grandchildren, Lincoln and Maddy Parker, and Natalee Simms; brothers, Ricky Haveron (Donna) and Buddy Anderson and her best friend, Tammy Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Morgan Funeral Home with Pastor C.J. Cole officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the Mapledale Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, WV.
