Was Former Secretary For Lexington City Manager

Martha Lacy McDaniel Dudley, 77, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Augusta Medical Center after a short illness.

She was born November 21, 1929 in Rockbridge County, Virginia.

She was a daughter of the late Lacy McDaniel and Edith Miller McDaniel.

She retired from the City of Lexington as the City Manager's Secretary.

Martha was a very active person, who was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling.

She was a previous member of the Lexington Junior Women's Club as well as the Lexington Golf & Country Club Ladies Golf Association.

She was an active member of the Lexington Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Junior Dudley and a sister, Alice McDaniel Carter.

Surviving to cherish her memory are a loving son, George Dudley and wife, Marilyn Dudley of Lexington; grandsons: Geoffrey and Gregory Dudley; a loving daughter, Lynn Dudley Witt and husband, Doug Witt of Graysonville, MD; grandsons, Doug, Grant and Blake Witt; a sister, Adelene McDaniel Haden and husband, Fred Haden; numerous nephews and nieces; three special friends: Frances McKemy, Rosa Hayslette and June Morton. Also surviving are her two favorite cats, Muffin and DeeDee.

The family will receive friends at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Lexington Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with pastor Michael Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or the Lexington Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
