Obituary for Dennis Wayne Richmond, Sr. Dennis Wayne Richmond, Sr.
Clifton Forge Resident, Self-Employed Handyman, Dies At Age 70

Mr. Dennis Wayne Richmond, Sr., age 70, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, October 17, 2025, at his residence.

He was the husband of Sharon Elaine McCarty Richmond to whom he was married for almost fifty years.

Mr. Richmond was born July 28, 1955 in Covington, the son of the late Mason Edward Richmond and Mary Downey Richmond.

He was self-employed as a handyman where he did odd jobs for members of the community for a number of years. Wayne was a jack of all trades who enjoyed "trading" and spent most of his time in the woods.

In his spare time, Mr. Richmond enjoyed watching television, especially John Wayne movies.

He was considered a one-ton man and the last of a dying breed. Wayne was a wheeler and dealer and well-known throughout the scrapping industry. He believed a handshake sealed the deal and that you always lived by your word. Wayne didn't say much but when he spoke - you listened to him and paid attention to his words. If you knew Wayne, you probably hear him whisper, "Oh tweet lips." He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, only loved one woman and was the Rock of the family.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Richmond is survived by his children, Dennis W. Richmond, Jr. and wife, Reba of Covington, Jessica N. Nicely of Covington, Ashley D. Fischer of Clifton Forge and Brandy Richmond of Covington; his grandchildren, Paige, Daelin, Jessie, Shellie, Kellie, Zoey, Koda, Bentley, Raymond Wayne, Ashlyn, Regan and Heaven; special son-law, Kirk L. Fischer; brothers, Dale Richmond of Clifton Forge, Mason Richmond of Roanoke, William Richmond of Kentucky and James Richmond of Clifton Forge; special friends, Jamie and Tammy Blevins of Roanoke and Gary and Tammy Rogers of Covington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Richmond was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy S. Richmond and a sister, Tammy Sue Ellen Richmond.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
