George Wesley McCabe, 73, formerly of Calf Mountain Road, Waynesboro, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the Ruxton Health of Staunton.

He was born July 17, 1933 in Lexington, Virginia, son of Charles McCabe and Iris Louise Painter McCabe.

He grew up around Buena Vista.

Mr. McCabe was a lifetime member of the Waynesboro Fire Department and retired from work with the Augusta County Schools.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wesley McCabe.

Surviving are his wife, Mary L. McCabe of Staunton; his son, Richard McCabe of Waynesboro; two grandchildren: Bethany and Patrice McCabe; and his brother, Walter Preston McCabe.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Augusta Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the Augusta Memorial Park following the service.

Memorial contributions may be mae to the Four Square Gospel Church.
