Obituary for Earnest "Teddie" Tomlin Earnest "Teddie" Tomlin
U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. Retiree; Bus Driver For B.V. Schools

Earnest "Teddie" Tomlin, 70, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007.

He was born June 23, 1936 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Earnest Lovie Tomlin and Doshia Falls Tomlin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, stepson, and two sisters.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and was a retired U. S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. after 20 years in the military. He worked 16 years as a bus driver for the Buena Vista school system.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Chittum Tomlin; four sons, Jason Lee Tomlin and wife, Amber of Cherry Point, NC, Timmy Tomlin and wife, Christy of Camp Pendleton, CA, Robert Tomlin and wife, Tina of Colorado and Jeff Tomlin of Illinois; a daugher, Allyson Blanks; two stepsons, Chris Gattis and Al Gattis; three brothers, Robert Tomlin and wife, Melba of Vinton, Dale Tomlin and Freddie Tomlin of Buena Vista; one special grandchild, Andrew Tomlin; nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Butch Grow officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista, VA.
