Army Veteran Had A 'Listening Ear And A Giving Heart'

Glasgow Pleasants, Jr., 78, of Lexington, died Monday, January 22, 2007.

He was born August 17, 1928 in Rockbridge County to devoted parents, the late Glasgow and Maggie Pleasants.

He received his formal education from the Virginia School System.

He joined the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge.

Glasgow was married to Susie (Morgan) Pleasants. This union brought three children: Glasgow III, Lawrence and Judy.

Glasgow was a member of the Randolph Street United Methodist Church. He was also involved in other civic organizations.

His presence will be greatly missed by his dear family and many friends. He always had a listening ear and a giving heart.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Pleasants; two sons: Glasgow (Doris) of Columbia, SC and Lawrence (Sandra) of Woodbridge, VA; one daughter, Judy Pleasants of Brunswick, MD; one brother, Charles Pleasants of Lexington; two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, three grandchildren and one great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Randolph Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Bollinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA. Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
