Clifton Forge Resident, Vietnam War Veteran and AHCS Substance Abuse Counselor, Dies At Age 76

Roby Wesley Alexander Heath, age 76, of 1311 Forester Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

Roby was born on October 20, 1949 in Mount Airy, North Carolina, to the late Harmon William Heath and Ellen Culler Heath.

He served in the United States Army through two tours in the Vietnam War, and was a Substance Abuse Counselor for the Alleghany Highlands Community Services Board. He earned his Ph.D., was an avid historian, and considered Albert Einstein his hero. He loved his family and Jesus.

In addition to his parents, Roby was preceded in death by a brother, Hal Heath.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Vernon Heath of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Tabatha Teuscher of Utah and Dr. Amelia Heath of West Linton, Scotland; two sons, Christopher Heath of Ashville, NC and Patrick Heath of Harrisonburg; a sister, Patsy Hiatt of Mount Airy, NC; two brothers, John Heath of Roanoke and Kent Heath of Daleville; six grandsons; three granddaughters, including a special granddaughter, Lily Heath; a great grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. There are no services planned at this time.
