Obituary for George Edward "Eddie" Arthur George Edward "Eddie" Arthur
Was Sergeant In Army During Korean War

George Edward "Eddie" Arthur, 74, of Natural Bridge, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.

All who knew him had much love and respect for him. He loved nature and never met a stranger.

He served as a Sergeant, United States Army in the Korean War, stationed in Germany.

He retired from Burlington Industries after 48 years, impressing upon all who he worked with a spirit of kindness and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Rebecca Arthur.

Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Worth Arthur; two daughters: Edwina Arthur Shafer and husband, Jerry and Glenna Arthur Taylor, all of Lexington; two brothers and two sisters and their spouses: James and Joyce Arthur, Jack and Gay Arthur of Glasgow, Shirley McElroy of Roanoke and Dolly and Wayne Hager of WV; five grandchildren and their spouses; four great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the local Relay for Life, American Cancer society.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brian Weger officiating. Burial will follow in the Glasgow Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-=6 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
