Obituary for Harry Marshall Floyd Harry Marshall Floyd
Army Veteran Served During World War II; Was A Man Of Many Trades

In memory of Harry Marshall Floyd, husband, father, grandfather and friend, who went walking with the Lord January 29, 2007 from his home.

He was born in Rockbridge County to the late Frank and Gertrude Floyd.

He resided in Williamsburg for 30 years until moving back to Buena Vista in 1979 with his wife and children.

He was a man of many trades as he worked as a logger, carpenter, and ran many service stations.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, where he served two tours in Japan and the Philippines.

He was a member of the VFW Post 1499 and attended the Pentecostal Outreach Church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors in his garden. He also loved being surrounded by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Libby F. Entsminger and grandson, Shawn Michael Floyd.

He was cared for at home for 21 years by his wife, friend and soul mate of 56 years, Mildred Louise Southers Floyd. He is also survived by his children, Kenneth W. Floyd, Sr. and wife Linda of Glasgow, Sharon K. Moulton and husband Bernard of Buena Vista, Barry C. Floyd and wife Gloria of Hampton, Brenda J. Floyd of Glasgow and Beverly D. Worthington of Buena Vista; adopted daughter, Eunice F. Baez of Winterville, NC; brother, Raymond Floyd of Naola; sister, Katie Fitzgerald of Lexington; 13 grandchildren: Kenneth W. Floyd, Jr., Toni A. Floyd, Jessica S. Reid, Christy L. Hensley, Wayne I. Moulton, Jennifer K. Gilliam, Jamie L. Gilliam, Rajeana J. Moulton, Bryan C. Nuckols, Jeremy S. Floyd, Thomas Worthington, Kaley Renee Floyd and Sierra Worthington; 13 great grandchildren, April, Travis, Katie, Mercy, Dylan, Kimberley, Corbin, Michael, Ragen, Chase, Gracie, Mallory and Christopher; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Blankenship and Rev. Michael Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Buena Vista Vol. Rescue Squad.
