Obituary for Nell R. Kipp Nell R. Kipp
Augusta County Native Dies At UVA Hospital

Nell Lockridge Ramsey Kipp, 88, of Ramsey Gap Road, Goshen, died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.

She was born on May 15, 1918 in Augusta County, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Copper) Ramsey.

She was married to the late Cecil R. Kipp.

Mrs. Kipp was a lifelong farmer and homemaker. She also served as a caretaker for the elderly in the community. She was a member of the Craigsville Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the ladies' circle. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and member of her community.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra K. Lee and husband, John of Craigsville, Mary K. Simmons and husband Rick of Churchville; two brothers, John Ramsey of Salina, Kansas, and Hugh Ramsey of Dayton; five grandchildren, Thomas "Barney" Lee, Ryan and Nicole Simmons, Kathryn Lavis, and Johnathan Lee; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kipp was preceded in death by six brothers, Tom, Robert, Harry, William, Richard and Howard Ramsey, and three sisters, Lucille Byrd, Margaret Turner, and Virginia "Pat" Stephenson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Craigsville Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jan Owen officiating. Interment will follow in the Craigsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Ingram, Dean Irvine, Hugh Copper, Robert Byrd, William Tenant, and Joe St. Aubin. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Sensabaugh and Zimmerman Funeral Home in Craigsville.
