Richard Andrew Pruett, 69, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

He was born February 14, 1957, in Lexington, a son of James B. Pruett and Cathleen Staton Pruett.

Richard was raised by his aunt, Juanita Staton.

In addition to his parents and his aunt, he was preceded in death by son, James Ross Pruett; sister, Shelia K. Pruett; and brother, James K. Pruett.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah Pruett; stepchildren, Gregory Jackson Mayo Jr., Charles Derek Mayo and Crystal Dawn Monteith; numerous grandchildren; sisters, Paula E. Pruett Floyd and Donna Sue Pruett Camden; brother, Steve Lee Pruett; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
