David Lee Runkle, 83, of Raphine, Virginia, died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Brookdale in Staunton.

Born July 11, 1943, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of Russel Lee Runkle and Claudia Bell Wade Runkle.

David lived in the Brownsburg area his entire life. He attended Brownsburg School from the first to 12th grade, graduating in 1961.

David worked for the Bank of Rockbridge and the family farm for many years. His last position was manager of the Fairfield branch.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Fix Runkle; children, Sarah R. Hockman (Blake) and David Andrew Runkle; and grandchildren, Hunter and Forrest.

The graveside service is private.
