Ruth Harris Joyce, 93, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Kendal.

She was born June 21, 1913 in Clifton Forge, a daughter of the late Samuel Eldridge Harris and Grace Cecelia Rapp Harris.

Mrs. Joyce was a member and former Sunday school teacher and deacon at the Manly Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Joyce; a brother, Buford Harris; and a sister, Helen Troxell.

She is survived by a brother, Bernard Harris and wife, Frances Inez, Lexington; and two nephews: Rhea Harris, Surry, and Larry Harris, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 in the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Dr. J. Michael Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church, 66 Franks Lane, Lexington, VA. 24450. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
